The peRSeverance Run 5k

This event is a 5K Run/1Mile Walk held the last weekend of October.  This event is a fundraiser hosted by Ryan's Call Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization,  Ryan's Call Foundation was founded in memory of Ryan Swain, of Amity, Arkansas, who at the young age of 17 lost his life in a drowning incident while duck hunting, on September 7, 2013.   Ryan's Call Foundation strives to promote water safety awareness and drowning prevention.   This organization provides U.S. Coast Guard approved Life Vests to individuals, as well as to marinas, lakes, public pools, and other water recreational facilities.  Ryan's Call also provides care packages and encouragement to Children and teens that are facing traumatic injuries and recoveries due to sports or Outdoor recreational accidents.     More information on this organization can be found at www.ryanscall.org.

Location : Daisy State Park, Kirby, Arkansas

The perseverance Run is held at the beautiful Daisy State Park, located just outside of Kirby, AR   Daisy State Park is a hidden gem, secluded and nestled on the banks of Lake Greeson., and provides the perfect atmosphere for a Run in the park, on a crisp autumn day.    The park is operated by the Corp of Engineers, provides paved, winding roads with some dips and inclines along the course.   There are ample restroom facilities through out the park, and the Pavillion makes a great meeting area for registration and other activities.   The park is open to campers through out the year, with full service hook ups.  Daisy State Park invites you to bring your camper, RV or tent and plan to make a full weekend with them during the 5K Run ..         

Activities

The perseverance Run is not just a Run, but strives to be fun filled day of activites for everyone, of all ages.     The 5K Run is a chip timed event registered with ArkansasRunner.com, and is sanctioned by the USTAF.  Medals and trophies are awarded for overall male and female, as well as 1st, 2nd & 3rd in age groups.  a 1 mile Walk is also available for walkers and children. This past year, Ryan's Call partnered with Arkansas Children's Hospital to provide children and adults with a properly fitted life Vest.  Arkansas Children's Hospital donated 90 life jackets to be given away free of charge at this event.  Trained personnel was available to fit and explain the importance of wearing life vests when around water.        Donuts, Coffee, and hot chocolate were available to the public.     More fun and games are being planned .   We want this to be a safe and fun event for all ages, runners, non runners and all.
